6 Piston Big Brake Kit Hits The Street & Track For FL5/FK8 Civic Type R & Acura Integra Type S!

As they say, time flies when you’re having fun and we’ve been having a heck of a good time developing and testing the latest Front BBK on the street and on the track for the FL5/DE5 twins.

But, enough with the past, let’s dig right into the specs of this killer kit that is now available to purchase. A complete braking system upgrade wouldn't be complete without an overhaul of what makes up the (majority) of the components that slow you down.

That means upgraded calipers, rotors, pads, and even brand new brake lines.

For the caliper setup, we opted to go big. But not so big that you wouldn't be able to fit common aftermarket wheel setups that you guys love to run. This means these upgraded 6 piston calipers will work with most 18 and 19 inch aftermarket wheels plus fit perfectly behind the OEM wheels found on the FK8, FL5, and DE5. These calipers are forged from aluminum for strength and rigidity. Our calipers also use staggered size stainless steel pistons which means more even brake pad wear and a linear response when your foot hits the pedal. To round out this part of the kit, you have the option of a Redline Red or Stealth Black finish. Not just for looks, this finish is able to tolerate extreme heat and won’t easily discolor like your stock Brembo setup will.

For the rotor setup we opted for an increase to 355mm in diameter while keeping them 2-piece. These feature slotted surfaces for better heat dissipation and allow brake pad gasses to escape under hard braking. These also feature a larger number of internal cooling vanes to keep temps as low as possible lap after lap when you demand the most out of your braking setup. Replacement rotors are available to purchase anytime you’re ready so you spend more time behind the wheel and less time in maintenance mode.

Another crucial detail you’ll be able to dial is a great brake pad combination. Standard, our BBK will come with a set of pads perfect for Street and Light Track Duty. These semi-metallic pads are rotor friendly and will take some light abuse while still being daily driver friendly. For those that push the limits, we offer an upgrade straight away to a fully dedicated Race pad. And if that’s not enough choice, you can choose from a wide variety of other brake pads like Hawk, Pagid, AP and others.

To round out this kit, we include DOT-Approved Stainless Steel Brake Lines. These provide superior responsiveness and feel compared with your factory rubber brake lines and stand up to the elements better.

Now, you’re probably curious about an upgrade for the rear of your car because we know you are.

We're testing a few different solutions for the rear axle to bring to market right now. This will help balance out the front brake bias which is standard on all FWD cars. We’ll release more details soon. 

Until then, our Front BBK has been tested and works well with your OEM rear pad setup and will also work great with an upgraded rear pad compound like our 27WON Performance setup. We’ve found that brake balance and overall feel is good even with OE rear pads. Braking bias is changed somewhat with the front upgrade but everyone involved in testing and validation has enjoyed the extra brake performance anyway.
